What you'll do
The role of the Project Manager has multiple facets and is an integral part of the PMO Team. A role, focussing on planning, executing, and closing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This may include acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party suppliers/contractors in order to deliver projects according to plan.
Responsible for high quality project management to both internal and external customers for multiple large, complex projects including day to day task management of all Proact and Third-Party resources once allocated on a per project basis.
Core Responsibilities
- To ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget in accordance with the Proact UK PMO guidelines
- Management and control of multiple projects & project tasks
- Responsible for the management and the transition of Proact project customers into Managed service customers, where applicable
- Creating detailed work plans which identify and sequence the activities needed to successfully complete the project
- Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
- Driving issues through to resolution, managing conflict where necessary
- Identify and raise (log) issues and risks and recommend action to resolve issue / minimize potential risks

- To manage the booking of correctly skilled resources to ensure project delivery to meet the customer requirements. Day to day task management & control of all required Proact and Third-Party resources once allocated on a per project basis.
- Documentation: you will be expected to compile, create and deliver high quality documentation based on the Proact UK PMO guidelines to the customer, Proact account managers, Proact district managers and Senior Management Team including but not limited to:
- Project Initiation Documents
- Project RAID Log
- Comprehensive Project Plans
- Highlight Reports
- Project Change Requests
- Project Closure Documentation
- Learnt Documentation
- Invoicing Forecast Reports
- Project Budgetary Management and Control - To ensure accurate billing of project
- budgets in accordance with the agreed milestones and timeframes of the project
- To ensure all project and service delivery workshops, throughout the project
- lifecycle, are attended and completed by the relevant team members
- To ensure that all project actions, both Customers and those owned by the Proact project team, are completed in the agreed timeframes to ensure timely delivery of the project
- To produce up to date and accurate project records within appropriate Company
- business systems to ensure accurate reporting to the business of project status
- To maintain regular project update calls with the customer throughout the project

- To be the main point of contact for the Customer throughout the project lifecycle. Positive development of internal and external customer relationships. Focus on Customer Success is essential at all times
- To engage the PMO project coordinators in assisting with the delivery of the projects
- across the Proact project portfolio, where appropriate
- To assist the Head of the PMO in the development of the project coordinators and
- other members of the PMO as required
- To take part in cross departmental working teams as required to meet organizational
- Whilst not a technical role, an appreciation and understanding of the underlying technologies is essential

- GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent qualification
- At least 2 years’ experience in a Project Management rol
- An awareness / understanding of the Prince2 methodology
- Experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience of delivering medium to large IT transformation projects with multiple vendor technology
- Experience of drafting clear and comprehensive documentation to support technical implementation and administration processes

- Experience of dealing directly with customers at senior level

- Experience of building detailed project plans within Microsoft Project
- Ability to follow documented procedures
- Problem-solving abilities and experience with problem management and resolution
- Understanding and experience of IT industry change control process
- Understanding of business issues that may affect delivery of projects and solutions
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage own time, with an organised approach
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability and willingness to communicate in a clear manner to customers and the business
- Self-motivation, independent-mindedness and ability to use initiative to highlight issues and propose new/different solutions
- Ability to motivate and lead your allocated project teams
- Ability to identify and highlight potential new opportunities to sales team
- Ability to influence external partners relevant to the business
- Ability to develop key relationships within the vendors community
- Ability to assess a situation or problem and then to take/recommend the appropriate actions
- Ability to act as a project escalation point for all PS team members
- Ability to deal with varied situations with limited guidance
- Ability to create an environment which allows people to improve the way they work
- Ability to work successfully with a wide range of people
- Willingness to adapt to change
- Willingness to travel as required
- Willingness to work outside normal working hours, as required
You might also have
- Prince 2 – Practitioner certificate
- ITIL Practitioner Certification, or hold the relevant skills
- Educated to degree level or above
- Minimum of 2 years' experience utilising an ITIL service management framework
- Experience of working with Project Management tools and/or software
- Ability to mentor junior members of the team
